
Formed in 1978 in Stroud, Glos, UK, Pendragon’s manager booked a young band called Marillion to play and added Pendragon as support (c 1982) the two bands hit it off famously and Pendragon toured extensively with Marillion for several years in the UK whilst building their own strong and loyal following.
1983 saw Pendragon play to 30,000 strong audience at Reading Festival, they also recorded a live session for Tommy Vance’s Friday Rock Show on BBC Radio 1. After a few album releases on various labels the band set up their own label Toff Records in 1987 to handle their recorded output.
[expand title=”READ MORE”] During the 1990’s Pendragon grew from strength to strength with Masquerade Overture selling over 60,000 copies on their own label. Following the success of the Believe album, Pendragon played many festivals during 2007 including, Loreley Gemany (with Jethro Tull and Fish) and RoSFest USA (as headliner). In 2008 they released Pure through their own website which then came out on general release in March 2009 accompanied by a host of festivals and worldwide shows.In 2011 Passion was released on the Snapper Madfish label, the release was supported by a 35 date European tour. Both the Pure and Passion albums were met with much critical acclaim, both receiving the Classic Rock Society’s Album of the Year award plus awards for best songs, best instrumentalists and best concerts. Passion was voted 4th Best Album of The Year in Classic Rock Prog and hit no. 20 in the official UK Indie chart.
In 2014, Craig Blundell joins Pendragon on the drum stool in time for Pendragon’s release of their tenth studio album “Men Who Climb Mountains” along with a big European tour.[/expand]
