Peter Green is widely regarded as one of the finest guitarists of his generation. His virtuoso blues playing was an integral part of the sound of the original Fleetwood Mac, which he founded in 1967. In the early ’70s Green left the band and he was to spend much of the next three decades in the wilderness. He re-emerged in the late 1990s, performing with the Peter Green Splinter Group. Between 1997 and 2004, Green and the group recorded seven albums.

The albums

Splinter Group

peter-green-splinter-group-cover-5001997. The debut album from Peter Green’s Splinter Group represents a very welcome return to form for the lost hero. Two new studio tracks supplement recordings on the road using the Fleetwood Mobile studio live at gigs in Wolverhampton, Cambridge and the Shepherds Bush Empire, London  in December 1996 during the later stages of the band’s European Tour.

Available on CD and double vinyl.

The Robert Johnson Songbook

peter-green-the-robert-johnson-songbook-cover-5001998. One of the greatest classic blues records and was the first British album to win the prestigious WC Handy Award. It was released in the same year that Green was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, on the 18th May – almost 20 years to the day before the release of this celebratory version, but still sounds as timeless and as important now as it did back then. The music features 16 exquisitely heartbreaking performances of the best Johnson originals, with Green on lead guitar, harmonica and vocals, plus support from Nigel Watson, Roger Cotton, Larry Tolfree, Neil Murray and guest Paul Rodgers.

Available on CD and single vinyl featuring new artwork.

1998. Sunday April 5th 1998 at Ronnie Scott’s was a night to remember. For that evening the world famous jazz club was taken over by a blues crowd.  Gone was the cool reserve for which jazz buffs are renowned and in its place came blues fans all set for a raucous good time, and Green fans eager to see how their man was doing two years into his comeback.

The recording sees blues originals rub shoulders with Fleetwood Mac classics; Peter Green’s most famous compositions, such as “Albatross“, “Black Magic Woman“, “Rattlesnake Shake“, “The Green Manalishi” and “The Supernatural“, plus versions of “Travelling Riverside Blues” and “Steady Rollin’ Man“.

Available on double CD and double vinyl.
