Available for the very first time Madfish present Steve Hillage’s ‘LA Forum 31.1.77’
Steve Hillage, known for his exceptional work in Progressive Rock powerhouse Gong, Khan and pioneer of the Canterbury scene began his solo career in 1975.
Venturing to other side of the world, Steve Hillage arrived in Los Angeles for the first time in January of 1977 to support ELO on their US tour.
On January 27th and 31st a combined effort of 30,000 Los Angelenos were treated to the performance of a lifetime from Steve and his band.
With many of attendees unfamiliar with Steve Hillage it was a whirlwind set that ignited the stage and could be argued stole the show from the legendary headliners. The Forum set starts with ‘The Salmon Song’, from Steve’s first solo album ‘Fish Rising’ and from then on the material is entirely from his 1976 Top 10 UK album ‘L’.
All recordings are previously unreleased and were prepared personally from Steve’s own archives. Accompanying his performance in Los Angeles also comes three added bonus tracks of live recordings taken from his encore on March 26th at London’s prestigious Rainbow Theatre.
At long last, you can now feel the electricity crackle in the room and relive Steve Hillage’s success with this truly exceptional, once in a lifetime performance.. LA Forum 31.1.77 is presented in a digipack with a 16 page booklet featuring original images taken at both shows.

Madfish presents Steve Hillage’s previously unreleased legendary Glastonbury 1979 performance
Released on 2LP + Deluxe CD Media Book on 15 July 2022
On Friday 21st June 1979, the Steve Hillage Band performed a headline set of soaring psychedelic guitar riffs of cosmic aspirations. The summer solstice night was a pivotal point in Steve Hillage’s musical journey, and this recording, provided from Steve’s personal archives, will cement the performance as historic.
Prior to the festival, Steve and the band spent two weeks rehearsing in a barn at Worthy Farm, site of the Glastonbury Festival. They crafted a set fitting and psychedelically uplifting enough to truly celebrate the longest day of Summer at such an auspicious location. Steve was an integral member of the Glasto team alongside Michael Eavis, ‘Pyramid’ Bill Harkin and Turbosound/Funktion One’s Tony Andrews. Their work focalised the 1979 Fayre, helping the rebirth of the first of the modern Glastonbury Festivals.
After spending the 80’s in music production, Steve and his partner Miquette Giraudy returned to recording and live performance in the 90’s with the dance oriented System 7 and was fundamental in the introduction of the Dance Stage to Glastonbury in 1995.
Celebrate 50 years of Glastonbury with Steve Hillage’s Glastonbury Experience, out on 2LP + Deluxe CD Media Book on 15 July 2022

One lucky fan will find a golden ticket tucked inside their Searching for the Spark box set, entitling them to an exclusive gift from Steve Hillage
This summer, Steve Hillage and his creative partner Miquette Giraudy visited the Madfish HQ to finish off signing the 2,500 certificates of authenticity that will be included in every Searching for the Spark 1969 – 1991 box set.
The box set, strictly limited to 2,500 copies worldwide, is a 22 CD deluxe collection containing all the work of the great guitarist and electronic music innovator Steve Hillage recorded from his studio debut (1969’s Arzachel) to the first System 7 album in 1991.
One lucky owner of the box set will find that Steve and Miquette included an extra message on their signed certificate. This will be that owner’s ‘golden ticket’ that entitles them to an exclusive gift from Steve: a stained glass window featuring the Sparks icon designed by hand by Richard Pelham of Glastonbury Stained Glass. The icon, otherwise known as ‘Vesica Pisces’, is formed of curves and strips of carefully cut and hand-soldered iridescent glass with a width of approximately 1cm.
The box is available to order from Burning Shed.
In addition to gathering Hillage’s eight solo albums, Searching for the Spark also houses six albums of live material and no less than four discs of demos and archive recordings, many previously unreleased, direct from Steve’s own personal collection. And accompanying the CD anthology is a magnificent 188 page – 32,000 word – coffee table book. Written and assembled by Steve Hillage and Gong family expert Jonny Greene, the book contains hundreds of rare and previously unseen photographs and cuttings.
